Ever had one of those nights when an unexpected sound woke you from your sleep? That’s what happened to us in the early hours of this morning. At 4am there was a soft-sounding thud. Outside our window. Of course, we got up, then I stayed up. But we could not figure out the source of the noise. Until we went outside at found an unopened Menulog bag that had been thrown onto the path by our window. Not sure what the story is, except someone is disappointed … and probably hungry. So here’s a light hearted unexpectedly early “good morning world.”
Reticular Activating System
We can re-wire our brains to become more conscious about the things we value through the use of our Reticular Activating System (RAS) which is found at the base of our brain stem. The RAS is hard-wired to keep us alive. It filters information and allows anything relevant to our survival to get through to our conscious mind. When we pre-program our brain with anything related to our financial dreams then the RAS reinforces this information and allows us to attract or become acutely aware of what we desire. We find it where we least expect. Sometimes we discover it was there all along. Perhaps you have had that experience of buying a car. You have chosen a brand, model and colour and you just know that no-one else has one like it. First thing that happens is you drive out of the dealership and down the street, right past another identical car. What a shock. Soon you discover that this very brand, make and colour of car is everywhere. This is evidence of the working of your reticular activating system. Initially you were not conscious of this car on the road at all, but once you were attuned to the car, the information became part of your conscious mind, and now you see it everywhere.
So, how do we activate the RAS for the purpose of attracting and becoming aware of available what we want into our lives. First, we focus on what we desire. Second, we amplify the emotion that is connected to the desire. Then we create a clear visual on it. Finally, we repeat this throughout the day. Psychological Pain
According to author Natalie Rivera, we all have a tendency towards a similar kind of psychological pain for similar reasons. And at the centre of our suffering are 3 core irrational beliefs. APPROVAL – In order to be worthy, my approval must come from others. JUDGEMENT – Other people must live up to my expectations in order to be worthy. COMFORT– Life is required to be easy, comfortable, and convenient. These beliefs are responsible for the blame game, for entitlement and for the use of approval-seeking behaviour. They are TOTALLY BOGUS internal RULES that dictate how we, others, and the world must behave. This is a situation where it is SO GOOD to discover that you have been WRONG about something. We can release emotional stress and suffering by removing these redundant beliefs.
Hypnosis and Menopause
Hypnosis is considered an effective non-hormonal therapy for menopause according to the Menopause Clinic at the Royal Womens Hospital (VIC). I read their list and there was a small oversight. Surely a cute little pet would also be helpful!
Isolation Anxiety
Many people are feeling isolated as a result of social distancing. This can result in increased anxiety and reduced sleep quality. And those who are isolated with Covid-19 have added stressors. A recent study of diagnosed patients showed improvement with the use of PMR, Progressive Muscle Relaxation. This is a technique I use in hypnotherapy. Clients inform me that they feel very rested and experience improved sleep, just as the study showed. When there is an affordable, safe and reliable solution, accessible from the privacy of your own home, there’s no need to suffer alone.
